Cinnamon and cocoa cake

Here's a great birthday recipe for lovers of chocolate
(My big brothers birthday)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup butter, cubed
  • 1/4 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Method

  1. In a bowl, combine the first four ingredients. In a saucepan, combine the water, oil, butter and cocoa; bring just to a boil over medium heat. Pour over dry ingredients; mix well. Add eggs, buttermilk, vanilla and baking soda; mix well. Pour into a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan.
  2. Bake at 375° for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Place on a wire rack.

I used a basic buttercream

1/2 cup milk
3-4 cups icing sugar
2tsp vanilla extract
200g butter
Food colouring (optional)

Whisk it with a electric whisk thing until it's smooth

Enjoy!
